Google Chrome (BETA) を Windows 2000 で

ニュースで、Googleが新しいブラウザを出したというのでいってみました。
(簡単にインストールする方法は後述)

Google Chrome

あれ。。。。？ダウンロードはどこだろう。
まさかね？というわけで、IEをXP互換モードで起動。
（ \PROGRAM FILES\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXEをフォルダ内に別名でコピーして、コピーしたファイルを fcwin2kでXP互換登録して起動すればOK )

あ、やっぱり！

というわけでダウンロード。（互換モードから直接実行できないので、いったん保存します）


実行してみると、さらに蹴られます。
そこで、fcwinでXP互換モード登録。


一歩前へ。。。しかしまた同じエラーが。
タスクマネージャーでみるとGoogleUpdate.exeが判定しているということがわかったので、Software Explorer(Windows Defender に入ってるやつです)で探してみると \Documents and Settings\(ユーザー名)\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Update に存在することが判明しました。
そんなわけで、これも登録。


ダウンロードは成功！


今度は、「インストーラーに次のエラーが発生しました：５」
たぶんダウンロードしたインストーラーがEXE何だろうと推測して探したら、

\Documents and Settings\(ユーザー名)\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Update\Download\{8EFF8C73-BCCF-46F3-8C82-54AB98844839} の中に chrome_installer.exe発見。(後ろの数字はランダムらしい)

今度はこれもXP互換モード登録。
実行すると、やっぱりエラー。

KDWのデバッグ版Kernel32をコピーして実行してみるとエラーダイアログが出て停止。

[0903/174026:ERROR:main.cc(252)] Chrome only supports Windows XP or later

というログを Setup.exeが出力してることが判明。
Local SettingsTempをみると setup.exeと CHROME.PACKED.7Z　があったので、これをコピーしてさらに、setup.exeをXP互換登録。
(setup.exeというファイルは多いので、後で設定を消しておきましょう)


何かいやな警告が。。。何度も出るよ。


起動できたかな？

OKみたいですね。
ただ毎回警告出て鬱陶しいです；
chrome.exe自体をXP互換モードで動かすことはできません
chrome、めちゃくちゃ軽いんですが、調べてみるとその速さの秘密は、メモリ上で全て処理してることにあるみたいですね。
タスクマネージャーで見ると分かるんですが、IEの2倍程度のメモリを消費します。
つまり、メモリの少な過ぎるパソコンでchromeを実行すると、SWAPして遅くなるだけでなく、非常に不安定になるって訳ですね。(^^;
うちにあるWindows2000PCは最低でも１Gメモリがあるので、大丈夫なのですが、遅いPCでchromeが速いと思ってインストールするとひどい目に会うケースもありそうです。

というわけで予め、
ChromeSetup.exe
GoogleUpdate.exe
chrome_installer.exe
setup.exe
をXP互換モードに設定しておくと簡単にインストールできます。

面倒な人用に簡単Scriptを作りました(が、後日作ったインストーラーによる こちらの方法の方が楽です)

Download: chrome2k.zip
Language: International
使い方。Chrome2k.zipを解凍して、chrome2k.batを実行すると、ダウンロードページを開きます。後は普通にダウンロードできます。直接実行しないで、いったんダウンロードしてからなのが味噌です。レジストリ書き換えるので、unchrome.regを取り込むと設定を消します。
Usage: Extract Chrome2k.zip and run chrome2k.bat, IEXP.exe open download page. and you can download and install normally ! But not execute directly, you must run it after download in the folder. After install, you can delete registry with unchrome.reg.

    毎回警告が出るってのは、日常的に使うブラウザとしては、ちょっと鬱陶しそうですね……
    メモリは３Ｇ積んでるので余裕だから、早さを満喫したいところですが (つД`)

    It’s only use technology which Windows 2000 has one of native functions.
    Windows 2000 has a hidden function which is strong compatible mode other OS, and it even can emulate Windows XP and Vista version.
    If you download and look my script. you can understand that what to do my script.
    (It is even batch file and registry files.)
    You can uninstall only with erase these registry.(I attached uninstall registry setting.) 😉

    I think you can understand a little if you click right-sidebar ‘Translate’.

    あの後、自宅PCと会社ノートでChromeを使ってますが、、なんだかんだでアドオン入りのFirefoxがメインになってますね、まだ^^;
    軽いのでGoogle系サービスはChromeにしてますが、、確かにメモリが;;
